Welcome to the 2007-2008 school year at Village Meadows

Thank you for visiting my page! We have a lot to learn this year, and I want to let parents know some ways you can help your child to be successful in school. There is so much to learn this year, and hard work in school, combined with working at home is imperitive to your child's education. Here are some things parents and siblings can do to help.

-Read to your children, and ask them to read to you. Make sure to talk about what you read. This will help with comprehension.

-Make learning fun by making it into a game.  If you do flash cards, time how many your child can get right in a minute, and have them try to beat their time.

-Set goals and keep track of progress.  If the goal is to get 100% on a spelling test, keep a chart of the score each week.

-Ask your child to explain in detail one thing that they did or learned that day. Don't accept "nothing" as an answer... I promise you, we will never spend 7 hours doing nothing!

-Check backpacks for important information, or assignments your child brings home.  Talk about what they did on each assignment, and discuss ways they could do better in the future.

I am so excited to have your child in my class.  I will do everything I can to help them learn.  If we all work together we will see even better results and greater growth.
